Uzbekistan Fall to Hong Kong 1–3 in Davis Cup World Group II Tie

The Davis Cup World Group II clash between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong took place on September 13–14 at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium, drawing strong support from local fans.
After the first day, the score was tied 1–1. Uzbekistan’s point came courtesy of Khumboyun Sultanov, who battled past Tsz Fu Wong 7–6, 6–3.
On the second day, the doubles proved decisive. The Uzbek team lost to the Hong Kong duo in two close sets, 5–7, 6–7. In the singles, Sergey Fomin was narrowly edged out by Chun Hung Wong 5–7, 6–7, while Sultanov fell to Hong Kong’s top player Coleman Wong 2–6, 2–6.
The final score of the tie was Hong Kong 3 – 1 Uzbekistan. The fifth rubber was not played, as the outcome had already been decided.
Despite the result, participation in the Davis Cup remains a prestigious chapter for Uzbekistan’s national tennis. The team gained valuable international experience, with Sultanov’s opening-day victory standing out as proof of the squad’s quality.
