ITF seminar on developing young tennis players held in Tashkent
From November 16 to 19, 2025, an ITF support seminar for coaches on the topic of “Developing Young Tennis Players” was successfully held in Tashkent. The event was organized by the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan as part of a working visit by Amir Borghei, ITF Tennis Development Officer for West and Central Asia.
More than 30 coaches from Tashkent, Andijan, Bukhara, Namangan, and Gulistan took part in the seminar. Such a wide geographical coverage was a clear indication of the coaching community’s interest in international educational programs in the field of youth tennis.
The training course was designed for specialists working with intermediate and advanced players. Participants studied modern methods of developing young athletes, practical teaching techniques, the specifics of forming playing skills, and building a long-term training strategy.
The classes were conducted by:
• Amir Borghei — ITF tennis development officer for West and Central Asia
• Igor Shelyakin, ITF regional instructor and UTF development coordinator
The Uzbekistan Tennis Federation provided accommodation and meals for non-resident participants, creating comfortable conditions for learning and exchanging experiences.
This seminar was an important part of the national coach training program and another step toward strengthening Uzbekistan’s position in the international tennis community. Educational initiatives of this level help to improve the qualifications of specialists and create a professional environment capable of effectively developing youth tennis in the country.
