Uzbek Tennis Players Finish Roland Garros Junior Series in Almaty With Top-3 Results

The qualifying stage of the Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault – Qualifications West and Central Asia concluded on August 9 at the clay courts of Gorky Tennis Park in Almaty. The tournament brought together the best U16 players from Central and West Asia and was held under the auspices of the French Tennis Federation (FFT), the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), and Renault Group.

In the boys’ draw, Akmal Abdullaev reached the final, where he fell to Kazakhstan’s Mansur Sainov — 7-6(4), 1-6, 4-6. With this result, Abdullaev secured the right to represent Uzbekistan at the final stage in Japan in October 2025.

Alan Zinatulin took third place after defeating Kazakhstan’s Ansar Niyetkaliev — 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

A strong performance also came from Abdurakhmon Karimov, who won the match for 7th place against Ratmir Pulkevich — 6-1, 6-7(8), 10-5.

In the girls’ draw, Keira Kim fought for 5th place but narrowly lost to Sofia Malysheva — 3-6, 6-4, 10-12, finishing in 6th position overall.

What’s next

The finals and podium finishes gave the Uzbek players valuable international experience, while finalist Akmal Abdullaev earned a ticket to the Roland Garros Junior Series Final in Japan. There, he will have the chance to compete for a spot in the premier junior event — Roland Garros 2026 in France.
