Latest news from the world of tennis: new champions, unexpected victories and changes in rankings
Young Uzbek tennis player Mumtozabegim Akramova performed brilliantly at the ATF 3rd Qatar Asian Junior Under-14 tournament, which took place on November 22-29, 2025, in Doha, Qatar. Our athlete won gold in the doubles and was among the strongest in the singles.
Doubles – championship title
In the doubles, Mumtozabegim Akramova became the winner of the tournament, confidently defeating her rivals from Russia and Kazakhstan in the decisive matches.
Mumtozabegim Akramova and Sevinc Ishankuliev from Turkmenistan defeated Sofia Himmelreich from Russia and Yasmina Yusupova from Kazakhstan with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
The pair of Akramova and Ishankuliev demonstrated confident play, high speed, and excellent teamwork, deservedly climbing to the top of the podium.
Singles — quarterfinal
In singles, Mumtozabegim Akramova also showed a decent result, reaching the quarterfinals.
Mumtozabegim Akramova lost to Sevinc Ishankulieva with a score of 5-7, 6-0, 1-6.
Mumtozabegim's performance in Qatar is further proof that Uzbek junior tennis is confidently strengthening its position on the international stage. Victory in doubles and reaching the quarterfinals in singles are important steps in the development of the young athlete.

Today, a three-day ATF Performance Tennis seminar began in Tashkent, organized by the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation in conjunction with the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) as part of the Young Tennis Stars (YTS) program, with the support of the Republican Tennis School of the Olympic Reserve. The training is taking place from November 28 to 30, 2025, at the "Umid" Sports Complex (RTSSO).
More than 30 specialists from different regions of the country are participating in the seminar: Namangan, Syrdarya, Tashkent, Bukhara regions, and the city of Tashkent.
The program is based on the international Evolution methodology and ITF principles, with a focus on training young tennis players aged 7-10: red, orange, and green levels. Participants will attend theoretical modules, practical classes, and a detailed analysis of modern approaches to training young players.
Mike Barrell, one of the world's leading experts in children's tennis and founder of the Evolve9 program, was a special guest at the seminar.
Upon completion of the training, all participants will receive certificates from the ATF and the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation. Participation in the seminar is free of charge as part of the development of coaching training in the country.

Tennis player Kamilla Rakhimova, ranked 109th in the WTA rankings, will officially compete in international tournaments under the flag of Uzbekistan.
Who is Kamilla Rakhimova?
The 24-year-old tennis player was born on August 28, 2001, in Yekaterinburg. Kamilla's family has ties to Uzbekistan: her mother, Rufina Rakhimova (née Yalalova), was one of the strongest tennis players in her age group in her youth and competed for the Uzbek SSR. Kamila's older brother, Timur, was born in Tashkent. These family roots make Rakhimova's decision to represent Uzbekistan particularly symbolic.
In recent years, Kamila Rakhimova has become one of the most consistent and professionally growing tennis players on the world tour.

A new chapter in the history of Uzbek tennis
Kamila Rakhimova's transition to the Uzbekistan flag is a strategic strengthening of the national team, which takes the country to a new level of international competition.
Uzbekistan now has a world-class player capable of competing for top positions in Grand Slam tournaments, WTA and ITF tournaments, team championships, the Asian Games, and the Billie Jean King Cup.

The ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 Andijan international junior tournament, held from November 17 to 22, 2025, under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), has come to an end in Andijan. The competition brought together players from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, India, Israel, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan.
Singles – boys
Russia's Alexei Ilyin became the champion of the tournament. In the final match, he defeated Uzbekistan's Abdurakhmon Karimov with a score of 6-2, 6-0.
Girls' singles
Madina Salijanova from Uzbekistan lost to her Russian opponent Viktoria Gruntova with a score of 3-6, 4-6 and became the runner-up of the tournament.
Doubles – Boys
Iyakov Gryaznov and Alexei Ilyin (Russia) snatched victory from the pair of Andrei Li (Russia) and Arafat Mustafa (Kazakhstan) and became doubles champions with a score of 6-1, 7-6 [2].
Doubles – Girls
Adama Alseypulova (Kazakhstan) and Ildana Zaripova (Russia) won the doubles tournament. In the final, they defeated the pair of Varvara Berdieva and Angelina Pakhomchenko (Russia) with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
The J30 Andijan tournament confirmed the high level of training of juniors and became an important part of the development of tennis in the region. It was the final tournament of the ITF series in 2025. A total of 12 tournaments were held this year: J30 — 5, J60 — 3, J100 — 3, J200 — 1.

The Uzbekistan Tennis Federation, in collaboration with the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) and the Republican Tennis School of the Olympic Reserve, will hold a three-day ATF Performance Tennis seminar in Tashkent as part of the Young Tennis Stars (YTS) program for the development of children's tennis on November 28-30, 2025.
The event is aimed at improving the skills of coaches, coordinators, and teachers working with children aged 7–10. Participants will learn about modern international teaching methods and take part in practical sessions on the court.
Venue: Umid Sports Complex, branch of the Republican Tennis School of the Olympic Reserve (Mirzo-Ulugbek district, 82A Yalangach).
The seminar program includes theoretical and practical modules on the Evolution methodology and ITF principles aimed at developing children's tennis in Asian countries. The main focus will be on coaches working with children under 10 years old who participate in red, orange, and green level competitions.
A special event will be the participation in the seminar of Mike Barrell, a leading international expert, founder of the Evolve9 program, and executive director of the John McEnroe Academy, which brings together more than 300 courts and 235 coaches.
Participants will receive certificates of completion issued by the Asian Tennis Federation and the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation, confirming their professional development.
Participation in the seminar is free of charge. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
The number of places is limited to 30 people.

From November 16 to 19, 2025, an ITF support seminar for coaches on the topic of “Developing Young Tennis Players” was successfully held in Tashkent. The event was organized by the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan as part of a working visit by Amir Borghei, ITF Tennis Development Officer for West and Central Asia.
More than 30 coaches from Tashkent, Andijan, Bukhara, Namangan, and Gulistan took part in the seminar. Such a wide geographical coverage was a clear indication of the coaching community's interest in international educational programs in the field of youth tennis.
The training course was designed for specialists working with intermediate and advanced players. Participants studied modern methods of developing young athletes, practical teaching techniques, the specifics of forming playing skills, and building a long-term training strategy.
The classes were conducted by:

• Igor Shelyakin, ITF regional instructor and UTF development coordinator
The Uzbekistan Tennis Federation provided accommodation and meals for non-resident participants, creating comfortable conditions for learning and exchanging experiences.
This seminar was an important part of the national coach training program and another step toward strengthening Uzbekistan's position in the international tennis community. Educational initiatives of this level help to improve the qualifications of specialists and create a professional environment capable of effectively developing youth tennis in the country.

The M25 tennis tournament has come to an end in Manama, the capital of Bahrain.
Uzbek tennis player Sergey Fomin performed successfully and ultimately won the main trophy. Our country's second-ranked player took to the court against Poland's Olaf Pieszkowski in the decisive final match.
In a dramatic final that lasted 2 hours and 35 minutes, Fomin made an impressive comeback. After losing the first set without a fight, our athlete showed determination and won in three sets — 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

The ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 Andijan international junior tournament, held from November 10 to 16, 2025, has come to an end in Andijan. The tournament was organized by the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The tournament brought together strong juniors from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, Belarus, India, Ukraine, and Russia.
Singles – boys
Abdurakhmon Karimov from Uzbekistan became the champion of the tournament, having had a flawless week on the courts of Andijan. In the final, he confidently defeated his compatriot Amir Safoev with a score of 6-0, 4-1.
Girls' singles
Viktoria Khastaeva from Russia won the tournament. In the final, she defeated Kristina Kruchenko from Kazakhstan with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Doubles – Boys
Uzbekistan's Abdurakhmon Karimov and Alan Zinatulin became champions in doubles.
In the final, the Uzbek duo defeated Viktor Makarov (Russia) and Amir Safaev (Uzbekistan) with a score of
6-1, 6-2.
Doubles – girls
Viktoria Khastaeva (Russia) and Kristina Kruchenko (Kazakhstan) won the doubles final, defeating the duo of Arianna Grigoryan and Marta Karas (Russia) with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
The J30 Andijan tournament was a significant event in the regional ITF Juniors calendar and confirmed the high level of training of our young athletes. Uzbek tennis players won titles in the men's singles and men's doubles, and also showed impressive results throughout the tournament.

National referee Dilmurod Shermatov successfully completed training and exams at the ITF Officiating international school and received White Badge certification.
What does White Badge mean?
The White Badge Chair Umpire qualification is awarded by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) based on the results of theory and practice on the court and entitles the holder to work at ITF international tournaments in the corresponding Chair Umpire track. This is an official step on the ITF career ladder and a basis for further upgrades.
Significance for Uzbek tennis
The emergence of another White Badge level umpire strengthens the country's personnel potential, improves the quality of tournaments in Uzbekistan, and helps to host more ITF and ATF international events, strengthening the exchange program with other countries. Over the past year, two umpires in Uzbekistan have already received international status.
The Uzbekistan Tennis Federation will continue to systematically develop the umpire corps by conducting national clinics and mentoring programs and facilitating international appointments for the further growth of our officials.

Young tennis players from Uzbekistan are participating in the 2026 Dunlop Road to the Australian Open Junior Championships tournament, which is being held from November 10 to 14 in the Japanese city of Yokkaichi.
In the competition, tennis players are competing for a wild card to the prestigious Australian Open Junior Championships 2026 junior tournament. Athletes from countries such as Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Jordan, Singapore, and Uzbekistan are participating.
The Uzbekistan national team consists of four girls and three boys in the under-17 age category. Our athletes are representing their country with dignity and playing well.
Participation in Dunlop Road to the Australian Open is an important experience for Uzbek juniors, allowing them to assess the level of preparation of the strongest Asian players and earn valuable ranking points. Such international competitions contribute to the development of young tennis players and strengthen Uzbekistan's position in the world tennis arena.

The ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 Andijan international tennis tournament has begun on the courts of Andijan. The tournament is being held from November 10 to 16, 2025, and was organized by the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The tournament has brought together young tennis players from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, Great Britain, India, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia, making it one of the most important platforms for the exchange of experience and the development of junior tennis in Central Asia.

Young tennis player Zlata Nizamiyeva from Uzbekistan performed successfully at the ATF 14&Under Aktobe G1 tournament, which took place from November 3 to 8, 2025, in Aktobe, Kazakhstan.
Nizamiyeva played confidently and achieved outstanding results, winning the doubles and coming second in the singles.

Partnering with Vlada Kuzmenko from Kazakhstan, Zlata won the championship title, defeating the Kazakh pair of Alari Adilbek and Akzere Yerimbet in the final with a score of 7–2, 6–0.

In the singles final, Zlata faced Kazakhstan's Maria Gulia and lost 2–6, 2–6, becoming the runner-up in the G1 tournament.

An ITF M15 tennis tournament was held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain.
Uzbek tennis player Sergey Fomin reached the doubles final of this tournament. Fomin and Russian Danil Golubev made an impressive comeback. In the semifinals, they won a hard-fought victory over the duo of Russian Timofey Derepasko and Italian Lorenzo Loruoso.
Sergey and Danil reached the final for the main trophy against the pair of Ivan Marrero and Latvian Karlis Ozolins. Fomin and Golubev were one step away from victory but lost to their opponents with a score of 7-6, 2-6, 8-10.
In singles, Uzbekistan's second-ranked player Sergey Fomin lost to Spain's Ivan Marrero Curbelo 2-6, 2-6.

From November 16 to 19, 2025, an auxiliary seminar for coaches on the topic of “Developing Young Tennis Players,” organized by the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation as part of a working visit by Amir Borhei, ITF Tennis Development Officer for West and Central Asia.
The seminar is intended for coaches working with players from beginner level to national junior team level. Participants will be able to deepen their knowledge and exchange experiences on training young athletes, developing technique, and building a long-term training strategy.

The Karen Kuregyan Memorial Cup (category 3) international junior tournament, organized by the Armenian Tennis Federation, has come to an end in the Armenian city of Tsaghkadzor.
Saidaslam Farkhodov from Uzbekistan demonstrated a high level of play, winning the doubles title and second place in the singles competition.

Farkhodov, paired with Nurislam Musa from Kazakhstan, confidently defeated the pair of Arsey Barkou from Belarus and Platon Gripich from Russia in the final with a score of 6:2, 6:3.
Singles
In the singles final, Saidislam faced Arsey Barkou of Belarus and, after a fierce battle, lost 3:6, 5:7, becoming the runner-up of the tournament.
These results are further proof of the growing level of Uzbek juniors and the successful work of the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation in developing young athletes.
